The Total Living Network is honored to celebrate its 40th year of ministry. It’s a momentous occasion as we take time to recognize the faithfulness of God and give thanks for all He has done through TV38 and TLN for the past four decades. As I think back over the years, I am reminded of that first evening on Memorial Day 1976 at a dilapidated, makeshift studio on the near westside of Chicago. It was a humble, but exciting beginning, to say the least. But we were on the air as the first and only Christian Broadcasting channel in Chicagoland. We began by faith and by the Word of God as our founder, Owen Carr, began the original broadcast by reading from the book of Genesis. And tonight, 40 years and many miracles later the foundation of TLN still rests solidly on faith and the eternal Word of God. It was a few years later that a staff member at Moody Bible Institute told me that on that first night he made a decision for Christ.
At the beginning, it was hard to imagine all that God intended to do through the ministry. In our 40 years of ministry many thousands have come to Christ and many others have been blessed in so many other ways in Chicagoland, throughout the San Francisco Bay, Romania and all the other places in the world the ministry of TLN has reached.
We are deeply grateful for all God has done. But now as we look to the future we are not only grateful for the opportunity God has given us, but also we are excited at the remarkable potential for ministry we see with the new technologies that are available to us for ministry. And I think you would agree that with all the turmoil and spiritual darkness we are experiencing today, there has never been a greater need for the hope of the Gospel. Please help us continue spreading the work of God to all corners of not only Chicago, but to the world.
Jerry Rose, TLI Chairman of the Board
