Chicago – August 23, 2021 – Total Living Network airs Back to School Prayer Specials
TLN has produced and will air two Back to School Prayer specials as elementary up to college aged students head back to the classroom with near-100% in-person attendance for the first time since March of 2020. The effect of the pandemic on students, educators, parents and administrators has been challenging. TLN speaks to those most affected.
The following guests join TLN President/CEO Debra Fraser:
Lisa Smith, a pre-K teacher in the Chicago Public School system for 27 years – topic: EDUCATORS
Debra and Lisa discuss matters like issues that educators have faced since the beginning of the pandemic; the greatest concerns of educators heading into the 2021 fall season; and how to handle traumatized children in the classroom.
Dezsiree Jones – topic: PARENTS
Dezsiree answers questions such as “How have the last 18 months been for you and your children when it comes to education?” and “Have you worked in cooperation with your children’s teachers to help your children reach their highest potential?”
Sarah Jones, Managing Director of K-8 program operations for By the Hand Kids Club – topic: ELEMENTARY and MIDDLE SCHOOL students
Debra and Sarah talk about how By the Hand supported children in Chicago’s under-resourced neighborhoods during the pandemic; what are the educational needs of children K-3 vs 4-8; and what factors affect how a child does (or does not) learn.
Rev. Will Klier, Co-Director (with his wife Jen) of Chi Alpha Campus Ministries at the University of California/Davis campus – topic: HIGH SCHOOL and COLLEGE students.
Will responds to issues such as how the pandemic has affected older students, campus life and campus relational life; what do college students need the most; and what will the fall 2021 season look like on high school and college campuses.
In addition, each guest will be asked how viewers can pray for the topics discussed. The Back to School Prayer specials can be viewed on TLN Chicago and TLNWest during the weeks of August 23 and August 30.
